Entity: K9 Ventures LLC — These Payments, Refunds & Cancellations terms apply to and bind any Business, professional, or service provider ("Business", "you", or "your") offering services, managing bookings, or receiving payments through K9.
K9 provides software that lets dog owners discover businesses and pay for real-world
services (e.g., walking, grooming, boarding, training, sitting). K9 is not a party to the
service agreement between a customer and a business, is not the provider of
those services, and is not the merchant of record for booking payments. The
contract for the service is solely between the customer and the business. K9 has no duty to inspect or supervise business premises, is not a bailee or custodian of any animal, and makes no representations or warranties regarding provider licensing, credentials, or insurance.
Service payments are processed by Stripe as a direct charge on the business's
connected Stripe account. The business is the merchant of record; funds settle
to the business.
K9 takes 0% commission on bookings. Standard Stripe card-processing fees apply and
are borne by the business — these are Stripe's fees, not K9's. Processing fees deducted by Stripe are non-refundable even if a booking is cancelled or refunded, and all Stripe dispute fees, assessments, and related processing costs pass through directly to the Business.
Use of payments is subject to Stripe's applicable terms (Connected Account Agreement;
Stripe's end-customer terms). By paying, the customer authorizes the charge by/through
the business via Stripe.
K9 does not store full card details; card data is handled by Stripe.
A customer requests an appointment; the business confirms; the customer then pays the
confirmed price in the app. Any hold or deposit terms must be conspicuously disclosed to the customer before booking confirmation, and businesses remain fully responsible for handling any associated deposit disputes directly.
Business-issued. A business can cancel a confirmed appointment and issue a refund
to the customer; the refund is processed via Stripe against the business's connected
account. K9 merely provides the tooling — K9 does not hold funds and does not
itself issue or guarantee refunds.
Baseline rule: If a Business cancels an appointment that the customer has already paid for, the Business MUST issue a mandatory 100% full refund to the customer initiated within twenty-four (24) to forty-eight (48) hours of cancellation. For customer-initiated cancellations, refund eligibility is governed by the Business's posted terms, and businesses must conspicuously post their cancellation and refund windows in their profile and initiate any approved refunds within 24 to 48 hours. In all cases, the Business remains responsible for absorbing non-refundable card-processing fees. If a Business fails or refuses to issue a required refund within the required timeframe, K9 reserves the right (without assuming any obligation or liability to fund refunds, pay out of pocket, or act as a guarantor, insurer, or settlement counterparty if your connected account has insufficient funds) to initiate an administrative reversal against the Business's connected Stripe account, suspend or terminate the Business's account, and set off or recover any resulting losses or negative balances against the Business's future payouts or linked accounts.
Timing. Refund posting times depend on Stripe/the customer's bank (typically several
business days).
Subscription fees paid by businesses to K9 are governed separately by the Business
Subscription Terms (§5 there), not this section.
By the business: may cancel and (if paid) refund as above.
By the customer: (a) Unpaid booking requests can be cancelled directly in-app at any time without penalty; (b) for paid bookings, cancellations must be submitted via the app or directly to the Business, with refund eligibility governed strictly by the Business's published cancellation policy. K9 does not mediate, guarantee, or fund refunds for customer no-shows.
No-shows and service disputes are strictly between the customer and the Business..
Because the business is the merchant of record, card disputes/chargebacks are between
the customer, the business, and Stripe. K9 is not responsible for resolving them but
may provide reasonable information. The Business is solely responsible for all chargebacks, reversals, and dispute fees. You agree to indemnify and hold K9 harmless from all losses, chargeback debits, and processing costs arising from payment disputes with your customers. If Stripe assesses any negative balance, chargeback fee, or penalty against K9 related to your account or transactions, K9 reserves the right to demand immediate reimbursement, charge any backup payment methods or bank accounts on file, initiate direct collections, and recover, claw back, and set off those amounts from your future payouts or linked bank accounts.
Product listings on K9 link to the seller's own external website. All product purchases
occur on that third-party site under that seller's terms — K9 does not process
product payments, is not a party to product sales, and is not responsible for
products, sellers, shipping, or refunds on those sales. K9 is not a seller, broker, or marketplace facilitator for off-platform sales. K9 expressly disclaims all product liability, product recalls, consumer safety warranties, and shipping or order disputes, all of which remain solely between the buyer and third-party seller.
Businesses are responsible for determining, collecting, and remitting any sales/use or
other taxes on the services and products they sell to their customers.
K9 is responsible only for any tax on its own subscription fees (see Business
Subscription Terms §6).
Under Stripe Direct Charges, Stripe (as the payment settlement entity / third-party settlement organization) is responsible for filing and issuing Form 1099-K directly to connected accounts meeting applicable federal and state reporting thresholds. K9 has no 1099-K tax reporting obligations for these direct service payments. W-9 and taxpayer identification collection is handled directly inside Stripe's KYC and onboarding flow.
K9 does not employ, endorse, guarantee, or supervise businesses or their staff and makes no
warranty about the quality, safety, legality, or outcome of any service. Customers should vet
providers; businesses must be properly licensed/insured where required. K9 is a technology platform only and does not provide veterinary, medical, insurance, or legal services, nor does any interaction create a veterinarian-client-patient relationship (VCPR) or other professional relationship. A "Verified" badge reflects only basic administrative verification, not accreditation, licensing, or endorsement. K9 is not a bailee or custodian of any animal, has no duty to inspect provider facilities, and assumes no liability for service outcomes. Pet owners remain solely and 100% financially responsible for any emergency medical or veterinary treatment required during the provision of services.
